Ransom Everglades' math team scored the Blue Ribbon Award at the Florida math state championships, a trophy bestowed on the highest-scoring small school at the April 8-9 event in Orlando. Under the direction of coach Karen Key, RE's team of 12 – including nine freshmen and sophomores – finished second overall in the trivia competition and scored a number of top 10 finishes at the 2022 Florida Association of Mu Alpha Theta State Convention.
Team members Nikhil Kumar '22, Alex Van Lidth '22, Arjun Badwal '23, Isabel Chong '24, Logan Feldman '24, Elliot Gross '24, Valentina Herrera Ponce de Leon '24, Sirja Joveer '25, Matthew Moskovitz '25, Victoria Paraoulaki de Miranda '24, Solon Sun '25 and Tea Delic '24 contributed to the team's silver-medal finish in Trivia as well as a fifth overall finish in the Interschool competition.
Sun earned eighth place in Alpha Equations and Inequalities; Van Lidth got 10th in Calculus Area and Volume, and he and Kumar earned sixth place in the Gemini Competition. Van Lidth, Sun and Moskovitz also claimed sixth in the Relay competition.
Gross, Chong and Badwal won fourth place in the Computer Competition.
