Raiders defeat MCD in third place game of SFBC

Freshman Juan Velazco '26 turned on a fastball sending it over the fence for a two run homer in a 8-6 victory over the Spartans of Miami Country Day to clinch third place in the South Florida Baseball Conference tournament. Sophomore Mason Lastra '25 joined Velazco, sending one out of the park for a solo homerun of his own. The Raiders jumped out to an early lead and continued to extend the lead to 8-0 in the fourth inning. The Spartans would make a valiant comeback with a four run fifth and a two run sixth to tighten the score, but would get no closer in a 8-6 defeat. The Raiders will now move on to the postseason where they will face Florida Christian in a district quarterfinal road contest this evening. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
