Local children select gifts at RE's toy store

Middle school students donated toys, sports equipment, books and games for the annual holiday toy store that gives hundreds of local children the opportunity to "shop" with Ransom Everglades students and teachers and select special gifts. As always, teachers Maria Eugenia Abrante and Ramona Miller organized the event, and Abrante spoke to neighborhood children and parents before the store opened on December 9. A tradition that dates back more than three decades, this year's event took place in the social hall at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church because of repairs underway at Christ Episcopal Church, the usual venue.
