RE offers first annual Summer Institute for Teachers at the upper school

Ransom Everglades launched its first annual Summer Institute for Teachers in June, welcoming faculty, administrators and private tutors for two days of seminars led by RE faculty at the upper school. The small-group sessions were designed to help attendees elevate their educational impact by connecting, collaborating and creating with fellow educators.
Attendees enjoyed interactive, timely and practical sessions including "AI in Classroom Instruction" and "Successful Homework Practices," both of which helped faculty to focus on how education has shifted after the pandemic and the new ways teachers need to meet students where they are. Institute Director Matthew Helmers and RE faculty member Adam Schachner taught on "Setting Socratic Norms, Ritual and Belonging."

Another highly-reviewed session was "Mindfulness and Teaching the Whole Student," which was offered by Director of Counseling Isis Perez-Gonzalez and Admission Associate Carla Hill and focused on how to foster belonging and excitement in the classroom.
