Students donate 200 hygiene bags for Coconut Grove residents

Ransom Everglades’ Volunteer Service Council collaborated with Joshua’s Heart Foundation to host the organization's annual hygiene drive. Joshua Williams '18, an RE alumnus and the 2024 Founders' Award winner, founded Joshua’s Heart with the mission to support underserved communities and alleviate poverty on a local, as well as global scale.
Donations were collected every day before school from students, faculty, and staff across both the high school and middle school campuses for two weeks prior. After school on September 5, student volunteers gathered at 4 p.m. to pack the bags in a coordinated effort that demonstrated the strong community spirit of Ransom Everglades. Faculty members Laura Miller and Jenny Carson '03 assisted the effort. The drive resulted in the creation of over 200 hygiene bags, filled with essential personal care items like shampoo, deodorant, toilet paper, etc.

On Saturday, September 7, the packed hygiene bags were distributed to local residents at 8 a.m. at the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Coconut Grove. This local outreach aimed to support vulnerable members of the Coconut Grove community by providing much-needed supplies.

The event marked yet another successful collaboration between Ransom Everglades and Joshua’s Heart Foundation. By supporting local communities, students continue to make meaningful contributions toward alleviating poverty and giving back to those in need.
