Ransom Everglades' golfers won three district titles at the Florida High School Athletic Association 1A District 15 Championships on Oct. 28 as Kate Khvorostiana '25 topped the leaderboard in the girls' individual competition and the boys' and girls' teams won their respective team championships, displaying excellence all around. The victory was the fourth straight for the RE boys' team, and the combined boys' and girls' team titles were the first for RE since 2018.
The girls claimed five of the top seven slots on the leaderboard. Khvorostiana finished first with an even-par 71; Ella Wester '28 shot a 79 (+8) for third; Esha Nagalla '29, scored 81 (+10) for fifth; and Abby Pollak '26 and Lillian Zijin Liu '27 each shot an 83 (+12) to tie for sixth. Their combined score of 314 easily won the tournament at the Normandy Shores Golf Course on Miami Beach; the girls topped Downtown Doral Charter High School, which tallied a 347. The team is coached by Roberta Neves and assistant coach Christian Ferreira.
The boys fought for their title; their combined score of 299 gave them a narrow victory over Florida Christian School (305) and Miami Country Day School (307). Jesse Hellring '25 shot a 73 (+2), good enough for second overall, and Cole Durham '29 and Navraj Suri '26 finished in a four-way tie for fourth with 75 (+4). Axel Monssoh '30 shot a 76 (+5) and Matteo Bloom '25, 77 (+6). A total of seven teams participated in the boys' event; RE was coached by Dave Ragan.
