Dr. Liza Kanter ’14 D.M.D. has a passion for dentistry. It might be because her mother, Dr. Andrea Diamond, has a dental practice. Or it could be that she was drawn to the field after graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. Whatever the reason, Liza loves the field and actively pursues dental continuing education to stay up to date on the latest research so she can offer her patients the best care.
RE: Where did you go to university?
LK: University of Maryland for my Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and University of Florida College of Dentistry for my Doctorate in Dental Medicine.
RE: Tell us about your work and what keeps you busy during the week.
LK: I spend my weeks running my family dental practice in Miami. I love being able to provide personalized care for the community to help streamline and enhance patients’ dental care. We provide most services in-house to limit the number of visits someone may need. We provide care in a family environment for our patients from 1 to 100+ years old. Our aim is to make our patients feel comfortable and ensure all their needs are addressed. We cover everything from six-month cleanings and checkups to more complex cases like extractions, implant placement, smile design and Invisalign.
RE: How did Ransom Everglades prepare you for your future?
LK: It prepared me for my future by making me want to continuously learn more. As a dentist, I take hours of continuing education courses to make sure I can give my patients the utmost care. Ransom Everglades prepared me to have the love for education that empowers me to continue to want to learn more every day.
RE: What’s one of your favorite Ransom Everglades memories?
LK: One of my favorite memories was the freshman year Outward Bound trip. It was such a unique class bonding experience that was quite unforgettable. I often find that while trying to explain it to others, I have trouble even convincing them that it was a normal tradition at our school. It truly exemplifies some of the out-of-the-box learning we experienced at Ransom Everglades and is one of my fondest memories.
RE: What song was on repeat your senior year?
LK: “Royals” by Lorde.
RE: What are some words of wisdom for your fellow alumni?
LK: Don’t forget to visit your dentist every six months and floss!
RE: Is there anything else you’d like to include?
LK: We’re always accepting new patients and do free consultations, including same-day emergency appointments. We would absolutely love to see any Ransom Everglades alumni and look forward to meeting you!
