Keep reading to learn about our sustainability accomplishments, and to find out how you can continue to support sustainability efforts at Ransom Everglades in the coming year.
Reflecting on 2024:
  • Composting Program: Since its inception in September 2022, RE's composting initiative has diverted 75,000 pounds of food waste from landfills, significantly reducing the school's carbon footprint.
  • Solar Panels: Ransom Everglades installed its third solar array, composed of 156 panels, on the Fernandez STEM Center.
  • Electric Vehicle Charging Stations: This fall, Ransom Everglades installed four EV charging stations at the upper school promoting the use of sustainable transportation.
As we embark on 2025, we invite you to mark your calendars for these upcoming sustainability events:
  • E-Waste Recycling Event: Scheduled for January 13-17, 2025, this event encourages the RE community to responsibly recycle electronic waste. Collection bins will be available in the middle school breezeway and outside the upper school arts classrooms.
  • Native Plant Walk: Join us on February 1, 2025, at 10 a.m. at the upper school campus to learn about native plants on our campus, fostering a deeper connection to our local ecosystem.
  • Ransom Everglades Climate Symposium (RECS): Save the date of April 30, 2025. The ninth annual RECS will showcase student research projects, art installations, and performances focused on climate solutions, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and environmental awareness.
  • Earth Week Celebrations: From April 21-25, 2025, RE will host a series of events, including guest speakers, workshops and activities aimed at promoting environmental stewardship and sustainability within the school community.
  • Book and Uniform Recycling Drives: In June and August 2025, RE will organize recycling drives to collect RE uniforms and textbooks. These items will be redistributed during the summer Uniform Pop-Up Shops, supporting sustainable practices and resource sharing among students and families.
These initiatives reflect Ransom Everglades School's ongoing commitment to integrating environmental stewardship into its operations, curriculum, and culture, ensuring that sustainability remains a core value of the community.
