RE Sailing claims first place in major regatta held at RE
The Ransom Everglades varsity sailing team finished in first place in a major sailing competition that drew 18 schools from around the southeastern U.S. and Caribbean to the Anderson Watersports Center on February 1. Griggs Diemar '25 and Amelia Lazarus '25 led from start to finish in the A division of the South Atlantic Interscholastic Sailing Association South Points #3, and Sebastian van de Kreeke '25 and Sofia Rhone-Fernandez '26 dominated the B division.
Raiders teams also earned first and third places in the junior varsity races and were represented by a strong team of varsity alternates – Ava McAliley '26, Manolo Campos '25, Max Wolfensberger '26 and Kayra Serpenguzel '25.
The JV Raiders 2 team that finished first in the JV division included Brayden Zawyer '28, Sabine Wolfensberger '27, Tommy Zaydon '28, Leyla Amjad '26, Simone Carrasco '27, and Eva Cunningham '27. The JV Raiders 1 team that earned third place was comprised of Sander Block '28, Garrett Fox '26, Antonio de Andrade '27, Jonah Fishman '25, Elisa De Becker '28 and Adi Arul '26.
Marcus Mustad '26 provided shore tech support and Ria Bhandari '29 and Carmela Brana '29 managed regatta preparation. The team is coached by David Bargehr and Nikole Barnes.
