Hundreds of parents attended RE's Back-to-School nights, taking advantage of an opportunity to meet with school leadership and interact with their children's teachers while following an abbreviated class schedule. "The adults here partner to ensure that each student gets every opportunity to realize his or her potential," Head of School Penny Townsend said.
Townsend addressed all parents as Head of the Middle School Rachel Rodriguez and Head of the Upper School Ken Mills also spoke on their respective campuses. The Middle School night took place Sept. 8; the Upper School, Sept. 15.
"Tonight is a big night," Mills said. "You will have an opportunity to meet your child's advisor and all of his or her students. The facuty is very excited to demonstrate what excites us as mathematicians, writers, scientists, coaches, artists and historians, and more importantly, we want to share with you how we excite the students."
Mills noted that RE's curriculum continues to evolve, even better reflecting RE's unique location in South Florida. For 2016-17, RE has added more computer science courses, additional electives in the sciences and global studies, and others.
"We prepare our students to be successful after Ransom Everglades," Townsend said on the Ransom Campus. "We get them ready to ask great questions, think critically, work collaboratively, try new things and put themselves out there. They bring exceptional attitudes and behaviors to college."
Parents followed their children's schedules on both campuses, visiting each class for 10 minutes. They also had the opportunity to seek assistance with myCOMPASS, gain information on school travel opportunities and learn about RE's relationship with Prepworks.
