Girls' cross country finishes fifth at states

The girls' cross country team finished fifth among 23 schools at the state championship meet Nov. 5 at Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee. Beatriz Ruan '17 led the Raiders with a 22nd-place finish among more than 175 runners, finishing the 5K race in 19 minutes 19.27 seconds.
Also contributing for the Raiders, the district runner-up and third in the regionals: Claire Irigoyen '19 (20:10.18); Hannah Tacher Lois '18 (20:33.36); Fernanda Garcia Moreno Alvarez '21 (20:43.44); Abigail Siegel '19 (21:18.76) Anne Gutierrez '17 (21:54.73); and Isabel Malloy '18 (22:12.31).

Pine Crest School in Fort Lauderdale claimed first in the championship meet, topping The Bolles School of Jacksonville, Satellite High from Satellite Beach and Montverde Academy of Montverde, Fla.

Wesley Cusack '19, the only boy competing for Ransom Everglades, finished 58th in a field of more than 190 boys with a 5K time of 17:05.96.
