RE band ends its 20th season in style

The RE Band concluded its 20th-anniversary season with a spring concert that celebrated the band's departing seniors, highlighted the award-winning RE Combo and paused to reflect on the band's two decades of success under Director Jon Hamm.
"I'd like to thank Ransom Everglades School for supporting our program for the last 20 years," Hamm said from center stage, mentioning a number of administrators and faculty by name. "I'm happy to say that the support has grown and is stronger than ever."

After the RE Combo led off the performance, the group's musical director Joon Kim '17 presented Hamm with an envelope containing a gift from the band parents.

"This is a token of our appreciation," Kim said, "for helping out with the band program always, and always being there for us."

Hamm introduced Kim and fellow seniors Justin Cartwright '17, Rafi Jimenez '17, Eddie Montalvo '17 and Patrick Visan '17 and handed each a white rose. He then picked up a guitar and joined the RE Guitar Ensemble to play and provide vocal accompaniment for several pieces, standing alongside Danielle Pena '18 and Raquel Coronell '18.

The RE Symphonic Band concluded the evening under Hamm's direction as a conductor, finishing with a "Chicago" Medley that Hamm helped arrange. The entire band assembled on stage for a final, celebratory bow.
