The scholarship recipients were selected by a committee of college admissions officers and high school counselors, who considered each student's academic record, including difficulty level of subjects studied and grades earned; scores from the Preliminary SAT (PSAT); contributions and leadership in school and community activities; an essay written by each finalist; and a recommendation written by a high school official.
Last fall, 16 Ransom Everglades students, including Gross and Keedy Brown, were named National Merit Semifinalists and, later, Finalists: Chloe Alfonso '24, Christine Keedy Brown '24, Siona Dua '24, Nicolas Fayad '24, Ian Fox '24, Elliot Gross '24, Erick Gross '24, Alexander Jones '24, Derrick Ma '24, Takeo Owens '24, Victoria Paraoulaki de Miranda '24, Martin Piedrahita '24, Lauren Scott '24, Margaret Seabrook '24, Nolan Wu '24 and Eve Zhou '24.
