Raider crew earns strong finish at the FSRA Sculling State Championships

RE Crew raced at the FSRA Sculling State Championships in Sarasota over the weekend of April 12-13. The Boys squad fielded five crews consisting of freshman, junior and varsity doubles as well as 1st and 2nd Varsity Quads while the girls fielded four Crews which inclujded juniors and lightweight doubles as well as 1st and 2nd varsity quads. For their collective efforts, our rowers brought home the highest sculling points total in program history (135) - good for 4th place scholastically in Florida. Junior Sydney Schimel '26 and senior Leah Vela '25 led the girls team with strong performances in their heats to advance directly to the A-Final and place 2nd scholastically and 7th overall in the state. On the boys side sophomores Mateo Delgado ‘27 and Mak Owens ‘27 performed well in the most subscribed event of the weekend which saw them race out of the semi-finals into the A-Finals to place 5th overall out of 29 crews and take home the title of Boys Junior Double ‘25 Scholastic State Champions. Having focused on sweep rowing most of this year, RE Crew looks forward to racing with their coxswains once again and making even bigger waves at the ‘25 FSRA Sweep Championships the weekend of April 26-27 back in Sarasota.
