Four robotics teams on to regional championships

Four Ransom Everglades robotics teams qualified for the South Florida Regional State Championship March 13 in Immokalee, Fla., where each team will vie for a bid to the VEX Robotics World Championship in Dallas in May. RE's Dark Matter team of Dashiell DeStefano '22, Emma G '23, Sofia Paraoulaki de Miranda '23, Max Vallone '22 and Alex Van Lidth '22, double-qualified for the event by claiming a tournament championship and Excellence Award at the February 5 VEX Robotics Competition in Fort Myers, Fla.
The Raiders team of Chloe Alfonso '24, Mario Antonaccio '25, Mateo Heitner '25, Theodore Ma '23, Varun Raju '24 and Ethan Thomas '25 became the fourth Raider team to qualify for regionals by earning the Robot Skills Champion award in Fort Myers.

Two RE teams had previously qualified: The Squad team of Lucia Rose Dahn '23, Diego de Lope '23, Victor Perez '23, Pablo Rodriguez-Russowsky '23 and Luca Trebotich '23; and the team of Arjun Badwal '23, Mia Campbell '25, Erick Gross '24, Myles Heller '24, Charlotte Kennedy '24, Victoria Paraoulaki de Miranda '24 and Vicky Pinilla '25.

All of the teams are led by robotics coach Bob DuBard.

Update, March 30, 2022: RE's Dark Matter and The Squad qualified for the VEX Worlds 2022 in Dallas May 3-12.
