Sophomore robotics students receive Excellence Award at local robotics event

The all-sophomore robotics team of Lucas Lafosse-Marin '27, Nicolas Castillo '27, Nicolas Motoki '27, Girish Raju '27 and Ricardo De Lorenzi '27 won the prestigious Excellence Award at a VEX V5 Robotics Competition at Dillard High School Nov. 2. Competing against 18 teams under robotics coach Bob DuBard, the team excelled in engineering and robot skills and advanced to the regional championship in March.
The Excellence award is the highest award at a VEX V5 Robotics Competition events; it is awarded for high performance in the engineering notebook, a judged interview, individual robot performance skills (both driver-controlled and autonomous), and competition. The RE team missed a championship victory by one point. Nineteen local teams participated.
